In the heart of downtown Lilburn, Georgia, a remarkable project unfolded. The task at hand was the sanding and refinishing of an ancient white oak floor, which had witnessed over a century's worth of history. If only those worn-out floorboards could speak, the tales they could unravel. As I embarked on the initial walkthrough, I was astonished to discover the hidden beauty of rift and quartered white oak beneath layers of neglect. It became my mission to revive this flooring and breathe new life into it.
Choosing to stain the floor with Duraseal Medium Brown, I sought to enhance its natural elegance. To ensure a flawless finish, I employed the prestigious Pallmann system. First, the floor was treated with Pall-X Color, bringing out its innate charm. Next, Pall-X Power was applied, further enhancing its durability and strength. Finally, the floor was graced with a lustrous sheen using Pall-X Gold Satin. The result was nothing short of a masterpiece. Interestingly, the client had initially contemplated concealing the hardwood flooring with a faux wood alternative. The mere thought of covering such exquisite craftsmanship with laminate or vinyl plank flooring made me cringe. Thus, it was an absolute delight to have the opportunity to resurrect this floor and allow its true brilliance to shine once more. In my hometown of Duluth, a client approached me with a request to estimate the value of a property they recently acquired. As we conversed, they expressed their desire to preserve the beautiful white oak floors that had been covered with hardwood. Intrigued, I inspected the floors and became convinced that reviving them was indeed achievable. With determination, we removed the remaining staples and utilized the Lagler Hummel to eliminate any imperfections. Coincidentally, I had recently acquired a new machine, the Pallmann Spider, and saw this project as the perfect opportunity to put it to the test. The Spider worked wonders on these aged floors, revealing stunning rift and quarter sawn white oak patterns once we applied the stain. While the clients enjoyed an evening at the Duluth Fall Festival, conveniently located within walking distance from their house, we diligently applied Duraseal Oil Based polyurethane to finish the floors. The following day, as the finish dried, the client was delighted with the outcome and expressed their intention to hire me again for the remaining original flooring once they had the resources.
I was recently approached by a reliable carpet cleaner in my area, whom I frequently assist with repairs, regarding a project in Atlanta, GA. It seemed that one of their technicians had unintentionally left unsightly marks on the beautiful hardwood flooring while working. Understanding the urgency of the situation, I promptly arrived at the location and skillfully sanded down the damaged boards. To restore the flooring's natural allure, I meticulously refinished it using a high-quality oil-based poly, ensuring a seamless blend with the existing flooring. The client expressed immense satisfaction with my prompt response and efficient completion of the task. Their contentment serves as a testament to the successful culmination of my endeavors.
